Using Business Rates X-Ray
We want the site and its tools to be usable with a keyboard, zoom, assistive technology and different screen sizes. This page explains the steps we have taken and how to report a problem.
What we have designed for
- Keyboard navigation with visible focus states.
- A “skip to main content” link on pages.
- Labels attached to form controls and text instructions that do not rely on colour alone.
- Layouts that reflow on smaller screens and at larger text sizes.
- Status and calculator results exposed as live text where practical.
- Plain-language explanations beside calculations and warnings.
Current limitations
We are continuing to test the site and do not claim that every page or third-party destination is fully compliant with every accessibility criterion. External services such as GOV.UK and Square have their own accessibility arrangements.

Accessible alternatives
If the checker itself is difficult to use, contact us and we will try to provide the same information in a simpler text format where reasonably possible.
